© F&S Elektronik Systeme

The first family member of the new Picocore COM product family from F&S Elektronik Systeme uses an NXP application processor (dual-core with heterogeneous processor architecture) with ARM Cortex-A7 core and ARM Cortex-M4 core. NXP continues its heterogeneous concept with Linux on the ARM Cortex-A7 core and FreeRTOS on the ARM Cortex-M4 core. For multimedia applications, the AP offers OpenGL-ES-2.0, OpenVG-1.1-3D and a 2D graphics accelerator. Up to 1GByte LPDDR3 RAM and up to 32GByte eMMC, as well as USB-OTG, 2x I2C, SPI, 2x UART and SDIO are available. A MIPI-DSI interface is available as a display interface. A resistive or PCAP touch panel is connected via I2C. Another option is an onboard WLAN/BT4.1 module.) The Picocore standard uses two connectors with 80 pins each. According to the manufacturer, this results in a compact design and a small board-to-board distance. Power is supplied via 5V and the power consumption is around 1W. The operating system is Linux (Kernel 4.1.15, Yocto). Bootloaders, customized interface drivers and all tools required for development are available for download. Various security functions have been made available through the Linux adaptation.
