On July 17, 2014, Prof. Armin Schnettler from Siemens Central Research (left) and Prof. Achim Kampker, Managing Director of StreetScooter, agreed to equip an electric car with a new type of electronics and software architecture. This should make it possible for the first time - similar to the 'plug & play' principle on a home PC - to retrofit functions such as electric braking or systems such as lane departure warning systems. The companies want to integrate the RACE architecture into an electric delivery van at the Siemens research center in Munich-Neuperlach by December 2014.
