TWK offers a safety encoder for explosion protection according to ATEX, Zone 1/21. The new generation of encoders with Profinet interface (also with Profisafe profile) is also suitable for Zone 1 (gas) and 21 (dust). The compact aluminum or stainless steel housings with cable connection can be used without restriction in hazardous areas as ATEX Group II, Cat. 2 devices, gas up to IIC and dust, as well as Group Dust IIIC. The certification applies to ATEX, IEC-Ex, North America Class 1/2 Div. 2 and EAC-Ex, among others. The TRT78/S3 ATEX encoder with Profisafe interface offers functional safety (SIL2/PLd) and explosion protection for Zone 1. Explosion protection is achieved by a flameproof enclosure with special cable glands in which the electronics are inserted. It can withstand the explosion of a defective component. Neither sparks nor heated gases can escape through the openings. The housing also prevents the ingress of dust (IP6x). As the surface temperature of the enclosure also does not exceed +100 °C, gas and any dust cannot be ignited.
