Rejection of cloud computing: The survey reveals a serious lack of cloud readiness among industrial SMEs. 18% of all medium-sized manufacturing companies currently use cloud-based storage, backup or server services. 16% use Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for niche solutions - such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management), HR (Human Resources) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management). The proportion of total cloud rejecters is surprisingly high: over 40% of all manufacturing companies surveyed reject cloud computing in any form as a matter of principle - especially smaller companies with fewer than 500 employees.
