During development, the focus was particularly on the safety and robustness of the system. The circuit board is insensitive to moisture and mechanical stress. Only the battery is attached and must be removed before washing. However, according to Fraunhofer, the textile and integrated electronics can be washed in the washing machine without any problems. Several safety mechanisms are designed to ensure that no short circuits occur. The system works with a maximum voltage of 5 V and is therefore not dangerous if touched directly.
