Since the inception of 'Formula Student Germany' in 2006, 2012 saw the largest number of participants to date: 108 student teams from 25 nations. Of these, 76 teams competed in the 'Formula Student Combustion' category. In the 'Formula Student Electric' category, the race started for 32 teams.
