The ExtendedController from ifm electronic has 32 multifunctional, analog and digital inputs and outputs with diagnostic functions. For communication tasks, the device has five CAN interfaces in accordance with ISO 11898 with CANopen and SAE-J1939 protocol. It has E1 type approval from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority. At the heart of the control unit, which is designed in accordance with the applicable standards for mobile electronics and integrated into a metal housing, is a fast 32-bit processor. Monitoring and protection functions ensure safe operation even under extreme operating conditions. Programming according to IEC 61131-3 languages with Codesys enables the user to clearly create the application software. According to the supplier, all control functions can be easily integrated into the application program. Libraries are available for special control functions. The CAN interfaces support all important bus protocols and different transmission rates as well as transparent or pre-processing data exchange.
