With Compact-S, a new controller family within the X20 system is now coming onto the market. The controllers have USB, Powerlink and Gigabit Ethernet connections as standard. The most powerful version of the controllers achieves cycle times of up to 400 µs and has 256 MB RAM and 2 GB internal flash drive. If such performance is not required, the version with a maximum cycle time of 800 µs or 1 ms can be used. The two smallest expansion stages are suitable for machines that do not require a real-time network. They have Fast Ethernet and achieve 2 ms or 4 ms as the fastest cycle time.
