The
PSSuniversal PLC controllers from Pilz now also communicate via Ethernet/IP, CANopen and Ethercat networks, so that users of these communication protocols can use the controllers in their existing networks. The safety architecture can be created independently of the higher-level plant control system and transferred to other plants if required. This is of particular benefit to machine manufacturers whose systems are used in different industries or markets. The controller can be used as a PLC or as a decentralized peripheral system for standard and safety. The 'Ethernet/IP' function can be called up via the 'PAS4000' software platform. Existing controllers can be equipped with this function via a firmware update from the company website. The controllers can be connected to Ethercat and CANopen networks via two different gateways. No further device configuration is required by the user thanks to a pre-defined mapping.
