Plug-in communication modules for CAN and J1939 protocols from Red Lion
© Red Lion EMEA Headquarters
Red Lion Controls is expanding its 'Graphite' series of operating devices with two plug-in communication modules for CAN and J1939 protocols. Originally designed for in-vehicle networking of passenger cars, the CAN and J1939 protocols are also used for special construction vehicles, trains and rail vehicles, marine equipment, engine control units and building automation applications such as elevator control, built-in door controls and heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment. In combination with Graphite HMI operating devices, the modules do not require external communication gateways. The HMIs include a built-in web server that allows users to monitor and control applications via PCs, tablets or smartphones. SMS text messages and e-mail alerts provide timely warnings in the event of internal process problems. In addition, protocol conversion enables programmers to select 13 or more simultaneous protocols from a list of over 300 protocols to seamlessly integrate different devices such as PLCs, drives, barcode readers and measuring instruments.
