The digital association advocates that companies prepare themselves for the worst-case scenario or have a so-called emergency management system in place. This regulates written procedures and immediate measures for situations in which, for example, sensitive company data is leaked, important websites such as stores or online services are unavailable or production is impaired due to digital attacks. According to Bitkom, only every second company currently has such an emergency management system in place. Larger companies are only slightly better equipped than smaller ones.
