The VDI Congress "Automation 2010" attracted around 350 participants to Baden-Baden. Keynote speaker Roland Bent from Phoenix Contact called on those gathered to look at the future of automation from the perspective of the major social challenges we are currently facing - above all issues such as increasing energy requirements, scarcity of resources, securing water supplies, increasing urbanization and the threat to the global climate.
