Crane manufacturer Liebherr offers the LTM 1070-4.2 mobile crane with additional fire brigade-specific equipment with the variable outrigger base 'VarioBase'. This measures the outrigger forces in the four hydraulic outriggers and can therefore determine the crane's center of gravity at any time. Dangerous situations during crane operation can thus be prevented by limiting the load moment. For force measurement, the company uses so-called outrigger force transducers (AKG) from Tecsis, which were specially developed for this application in a joint project. The force transducers, which have measuring ranges of 300 to 4000 kN depending on the crane type, have a measuring accuracy of better than 1% and also tolerate a lateral force of at least 10%. The safety-relevant components achieve performance level e in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13849-1 and can operate in a temperature range from -40 to +80 °C.
