Siemens researcher
Dr. Kevin Zhou from Princeton, USA, has developed new software that can automatically recognize the rib cage on computer tomography images, convert it into a 2D view and automatically mark all 24 ribs. This enables radiologists to diagnose findings in half the time. At the same time, fractures and metastases can be detected better and faster with a lower risk of error. The software was launched on the market in 2013 and is already in use in 116 hospitals and radiology practices in 23 countries.
