Despite growth, robots to assist people with disabilities have not met expectations in recent years, according to the IFR: 156 therapy robots were sold in 2011 (compared to 46 in 2010). However, the robotics association sees growth potential here. Many national companies are therefore focusing on this field of application for mobile robotics, such as the Danish Technology Institute at Automatica 2012: the lightweight arm mounted on a wheelchair robot could help people with disabilities to cope with everyday life.
