Alex Eames's HDMIPi HD screen prototypes: Perhaps the most ambitinoius project for the Pi is a 9-inch display with a resolution of 1290x800 pixels, which is comparable to that of the Nexus 7 tablet. The goal was to find a screen with a good price/performance ratio. So far, two prototypes with different controllers have been developed. One uses a 51-wire cable with a slimmed-down PCB, from which all unnecessary components such as the VGA chip and VGA adapter have been removed. The second is much smaller, but has nevertheless been modified by removing unnecessary components. The project is currently being funded via Kickstarter.com, and for a donation of £128 or more you can have the controller board, screen and case for the Pi and board delivered to you at www.kickstarter.com.
