Frankfurt/Main (dpa) - A new data platform aims to make the training of AI models in industry easier and safer. On the platform called "DataHub Europe", data from industry and media will be brought together, processed and curated on a large scale, the founders announced at the Digital Summit in Frankfurt.

The project is backed by Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, and Deutsche Bahn AG. The Schwarz Group is a large retail group (Lidl, Kaufland), but also a major IT service provider.

According to the information provided, industry partners can use the data to "train AI models in a secure infrastructure". The aim is to quickly and securely implement company-specific AI solutions as "real tools" in a wide range of business applications.

"DataHub Europe will close a crucial gap in the EU by providing high-quality data for the training of AI," said Digital Minister Volker Wissing (FDP). "This will create an exciting ecosystem and a much-needed data platform that will take the training of AI models for our industry to the next level."

Partners from different sectors involved

Numerous partners from industry, technology, science and the media are working together on the project. The data is provided by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) and DvH Medien ("Wirtschaftswoche" and "Handelsblatt"), among others. On the technical side, the AI expert Aleph Alpha, the cloud provider Stackit, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Technical University of Darmstadt are involved in making the training possible.
