Start of construction for new production hall
Mayr Antriebstechnik invests in its home base and internationally
Mayr Antriebstechnik is setting clear investment impulses for the future: The management has given the green light for the construction of a new production hall at the Mauerstetten site.
The new hall opens up potential for automation and creates space for new, innovative production technology. The investment is a clear commitment to the location and the region. Construction began at the end of 2025. At the same time, Mayr is investing in the plant in Poland to strengthen the Mayr Group's logistics internationally.
New production site at the Mauerstetten headquarters
Mayr Antriebstechnik is expanding its headquarters in Mauerstetten with a new production hall. Construction of Hall 9b began in the fall of 2025 after the management gave the green light for the project in the summer. With the construction of the hall, the renowned family business is closing a gap in the master plan for the site. In addition to improvements in material and logistics processes, the new building opens up potential for automation projects as well as space for new machines and innovative production technologies, for example in the area of surface coating. New social areas for employees are also planned, as well as new office space and meeting rooms for production-related departments.
Clear commitment to location and region
"The economic, political and social conditions are currently challenging and the uncertainties could hardly be greater. Despite this, or perhaps precisely because of this, we are consciously creating momentum for our future and thus creating opportunities to shape it successfully," says Ferdinand Mayr, CEO of Mayr Antriebstechnik.
"With the new construction of Hall 9b, we are once again underlining our clear and long-term commitment to the Mauerstetten site and the Allgäu, our home region. Of course, it is also intended to stimulate growth for our company; we want to exploit the full potential of automation, further increase our productivity and develop safe, reliable and innovative products. This is the clear mission and requirement for ourselves that goes hand in hand with the investment."
Mayr Antriebstechnik currently has around 23,500 square meters of production space and 9,500 square meters of office and administration space at its headquarters in Mauerstetten. Hall 9b adds a further 2,857 square meters of production, office and logistics space, with a built-up area of 2,100 square meters.
"We are also digging further into the mountain with the new hall. The construction costs are higher, but on the one hand we have less surface sealing and on the other hand the material flows remain compact," explains Ferdinand Mayr.
In addition to the plant in Mauerstetten with around 750 employees, Mayr Antriebstechnik operates other international production sites: in Zhangjiagang in China with 105 employees, since October 2024 in Halol in India with currently 12 employees, and in Ostrzeszów in Poland with around 430 employees, where construction is also currently underway.
International competitiveness and stability even in times of crisis
At 4,600 square meters, one of the Mayr Group's largest halls is currently being built in Poland. This will be supplemented by a bar warehouse with 1,300 square meters.
"With this hall, we are focusing on assembly and logistics, creating not only space but also flexibility," explains Christoph Dropmann, CTO of the Mayr Group and Managing Director of Mayr Poland. "The hall will be a logistics hub for Europe, so to speak. It will enable us to exploit the possibilities within the production network and play to the strengths of the respective plants in order to respond more flexibly to global trade."
While investments at the headquarters in Germany are mainly being made in innovative production technologies, Mayr Poland is becoming a logistics hub.
"Without Poland and the other international production sites, the parent company would not be as stable as it is today," adds Ferdinand Mayr. "Our international strategy puts us in a position to play a part in the global market. We assume that we will continue to grow at all locations and at the parent company in the future."
30 years of Mayr Poland
Mayr Poland celebrated its 30th anniversary last year in 2024. Christoph Dropmann, who has supported and shaped the development together with his Allgäu colleagues Peter Daffner (COO) and Christian Illig (CFO) from the very beginning, summarizes the development:
"Our Polish site, with a strong local management team, has undergone constant development over the decades and has grown continuously. The halls have also all become larger and are now of the highest standard. Photovoltaic systems are mandatory on all roofs, we have created ultra-modern storage areas for raw materials such as steel and built new parking lots. These are important because growth naturally also creates new jobs, which are filled by new employees."
With these investments, Mayr wants to live up to its own claim of being a reliable partner even in times of crisis - both internally for its employees and externally for its customers.
"We have been an independent family business since 1897. This applies not only to the Mauerstetten site, but to the entire Mayr Group worldwide: we have a common set of values and a shared culture that give us stability," Dropmann continues. "Times are not rosy at the moment, Poland's neighbor Ukraine is at war and the global economy is under pressure. It is precisely in times like these that we can see how important our cohesion is."
