Berlin (dpa) - The Federation of German Industries expects Chancellor Olaf Scholz to deliver quick results to strengthen Germany as a business location. "The Federal Chancellor now has a duty to deliver in the short term," explained Tanja Gönner, Managing Director. "There are many proposals on the table. We measure the Federal Government by concrete decisions and not by the number of exchange formats." The German economy expects joint government action for more growth. "We have no time to lose."

It is good that the Federal Chancellor is making the strengthening of industrial standards a top priority, said Gönner. "As head of government, he is responsible for developing joint government action for more growth and greater competitiveness." However, the summit day ended without any results. "The announced new industrial policy agenda is still a long time coming."

BDI President Siegfried Russwurm took part in the industry summit at the Chancellery on Tuesday. After the meeting, Scholz called for a "pact for industry" to be forged together. Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit announced that a further meeting in this circle is to take place on November 15. Previously, Finance Minister Christian Lindner's FDP had organized its own summit, to which SMEs and the skilled trades had also been invited.
