The tire manufacturer and automotive supplier Continental put the first driverless car on the test track 50 years ago. The aim at the time was to test the tires and obtain reproducible results.

The electronically controlled vehicle was developed in order to be able to carry out even more precise tire tests on the Contidrom, and the driverless vehicle delighted numerous guests from Germany and abroad at public demonstrations until the mid-1970s.
