Microsoft introduced trust-based working hours in 1998, and two years ago compulsory attendance was abolished. At its new German headquarters in Munich, the company has now also abolished offices. Instead, there are cafés and co-working spaces. Here are the pictures.

The "Smart Workspace" as the office of the future has been developed by Microsoft Head of Human Resources Markus Köhler in close collaboration with the Fraunhofer IAO. The focus is on "our diverse employees with their different needs and talents as well as individual requirements for their workplace and type of work". Flexibility is not just an empty phrase here, but a deliberate principle.
