Contactless measurement

The distributor RS Components (RS) has expanded its portfolio of test and measurement devices with the Fluke T6-600 and T6-1000 electrical test devices. They are suitable for non-contact measurements and are equipped with Fieldsense technology.

The technology allows voltage measurements in the same way as current measurements. Engineers and technicians can simply slide the open clamp of the T6 unit over a conductor and read the voltage level. According to the manufacturer, the testers in the T6 series are therefore particularly suitable for tests where this was previously difficult, as they measure voltage and current via the open clamp without making metallic contact with a live conductor. This should enable engineers to measure voltage and current simultaneously with true RMS in cramped conditions such as in busy distribution boxes or along conductors with inaccessible end points, without having to use test leads. The testers comply with 1000 V CAT III and 600 V CAT IV safety criteria, including 600 V CAT III for the T6-600 model, and feature an easy-to-read backlit display. In addition, the T6 can be operated with the new PRV240FS test unit, which uses Fieldsense technology both with and without test leads.
