HBM has developed the SomatXR measurement amplifier family for mobile measurement data acquisition under extreme conditions, especially for measurements under very harsh environmental conditions outside the laboratory. The modules are protected against moisture, dust, shock and vibrations and fulfill protection class IP65/IP67. Standardized tests according to the MIL-202 standard confirm a vibration resistance of 10 g and a shock resistance of 70 g. The devices can be operated in a range from -40 to +80 °C. The measuring amplifiers are designed in particular for road tests with construction machinery, agricultural machinery, mining vehicles and for summer and winter tests of road vehicles. Three different module types, each with 16 individually configurable and galvanically isolated inputs, support different transducer technologies. Strain gauges, resistors, potentiometers and piezoelectric sensors can be connected and voltages, currents and temperatures can be measured. Depending on requirements, users can deploy the individual modules in a distributed or centralized manner. Mobile or stationary operation in combination with other measurement data acquisition systems is also possible.
