Check Point Software Technologies is expanding its security solution for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) with the introduction of the Security Gateway Appliance 1200R. It enables improvements in granular visibility and control of Scada networks. It also provides threat detection and defense functions for Scada systems. The security gateway is designed for extreme environments and remote locations such as remote substation and power plant facilities and complements the company's existing portfolio of security gateway appliances. With over 500 Scada commands and parameters within the firewall and application control software blades and over 200 Scada-specific IPS signatures, the company offers comprehensive Scada security support. Specialized threat reports in 'Next Generation SmartEvent' provide complete reports on Scada traffic. The appliance includes 6x1 GbE ports and firewall throughput of 2 Gbps. ICS/Scada specific protocols are supported including Modbus, MMS, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, ICCP, OPC, Bacnet, Profinet and Siemens Step7. The operating temperature range is specified as -40 to +75 °C.
