© Monkey Works
The company Monkey Works has released version 1.1 (codenamed 'Helium') of its HMI Workbench. Features of the release include native support for Android as an HMI platform and alarm management including remote alerting via push messages. The release is accompanied by a white paper that introduces engineers in mechanical and plant engineering as well as developers of automation solutions to the app technologies. iOS, HMTL5 and Android are supported. While HTML5 allows HMI solutions to be developed quickly and used on various devices, many requirements can only be realized with native technologies. For example, push notifications as a means of remote alerting can only be received with native apps. The white paper uses realized use cases to outline the technical basics of app technologies and discusses their suitability for implementing mobile HMIs in the form of industrial apps.
