The backlash-free, highly rigid Roba-guidestop profile rail brakes from Mayr Antriebstechnik are available in eight sizes. This covers holding forces from 5 to 34 kN. The brake concept clamps directly onto the linear guideway with high rigidity. The brakes are therefore attached directly to the masses that are to be braked or held. This is particularly advantageous for gravity-loaded axes in order to minimize the risk of personal injury: Drive elements between the motor and the moving mass, such as the spindle, spindle nut, shaft coupling or gearbox, have no influence on safety. The safety brakes operate according to the fail-safe principle; they are closed when de-energized. A nominal pressure of 70 bar is sufficient for hydraulic release. According to the manufacturer, the brake mechanism is designed for relatively long lifting distances and compensates for manufacturing tolerances in the profile rails without any loss of braking force. In addition, the Roba-guidestop is designed with two independent brake circuits, which enables either double holding forces or a redundant design.
