ABB is launching vortex flow meters on the market that operate according to the swirl or vortex measuring principle. The series replaces the previous 'Trio-Wirl' devices. The SwirlMaster is available as a standard version (FSS430) or as an extended version (FSS450). The 'FSS430' has an analog output with HART communication as standard. A graphical display, digital outputs, configurable as pulse, contact and frequency outputs, as well as an integrated temperature sensor can be added as options. The 'FSS450' also offers the option of reading in and processing signals from other transmitters such as density, temperature or pressure via an analog 4 to 20 mA interface. It also offers functions such as steam-energy calculation with and without condensate return. The VortexMaster is also available in an entry-level version FSV430 and an extended version FSV450. While the measuring principle of the 'SwirlMaster' is based on swirl turbulence and the subsequent measurement of the associated pressure fluctuations in the medium, the 'VortexMaster' uses a disturbance body to generate the turbulence within the measured medium.
